11 Tracks

2002

11 Tracks considers how we interact with, and experience landscape; how and why we move through and around the landscape, in the past, the present and the future.  I collected handfuls of the surface from the eleven tracks that form a circular walk around the base of Madmarston Hill, an ancient hill fort, in Oxfordshire. By following and representing the present day tracks, I created a new ‘track’ that the viewer walks along and around.

11 Tracks was exhibited in all or nothing, a solo exhibition at The North Wall Gallery, Oxford in 2007.

An interest in tracks and lines in and across the landscape has continued, in works such asSP386 389 (revisiting the 11 Tracks around Madmarston Hill), and in Groundlines, a series of journeys following land lines.
